More people listen to commercial radio than public radio.

Over the last decade, the cable channels saw their growth stimulated by major crises. Viewers would come for the big events — often in huge numbers — and many of them would begin to watch the channels more afterwards. In 2006, the big stories were the summertime crisis in the Middle East in July and August and the mid-term elections in November.
