Top News Videos on YouTube

The phone hacking scandal involving News Corp. and the News of the World has continued to draw significant interest from social media. Not only was it the top subject on Twitter last week, with 67% of the news links, but it also was the focus of two of the most-viewed news videos on YouTube.

The same issue was among the top five videos the previous week and the top story on Twitter the past two weeks as well.

Last week’s top video, posted by Skynews, was an unexpected moment during a much publicized committee hearing. The clip showed News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch being the target of a “white foam pie” attack on July 19 as he was testifying before the British Parliament. Murdoch’s wife, Wendi Deng, was sitting behind her husband and jumped up to slap the offender.

The No. 4 video, posted by Russia Today, showed the same attack and included a slow motion segment along with footage of the police in the back of the committee room holding a handcuffed man covered with white foam on his face and shirt.
